Kevin Shearn - Principal
 |
Kevin is the Sole Principal of the practice, and is a
Family Law Specialist particularly specialising in children
cases including Public Law, Child Care and Adoption.
Kevin has experience of complex cases involving medical issues
includes Fabricated Illness Syndrome, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome,
Shaken Baby Syndrome and Child Sexual Abuse, both real and
fabricated.
He often represents younger children through their CAFCASS
Guardian and represents older competent children in their
own right. |
He has vast experience of representing
parents involved in public law care proceedings and also other
family members including grandparents.
Kevin has represented prospective adopters, birth parents
and children in adoption cases to include overseas adoptions
from non-Hague Convention Countries. He has recent experience
of representing family members and also foster carers in applications
for Special Guardianship.
Kevin represents children and adults with drug and alcohol
addictions, mental health problems and adults with learning
disabilities. This includes acting as a local agent for the
Official Solicitor.
Kevin is also experienced in representing clients in all areas
of relationship breakdowns, finance and all areas of child
law.
He is a member of the Law Society's Children Panel and the
Law Society's Family Law Panel (Advanced). Kevin is also a
member of Resolution (formerly the Solicitors Family Law Assocration),
and the Devon and Somerset Law Society.
Kevin has recently advised in relation to:
• Serious non-accidental injuries to children.
• Special Guardianship.
• Contact - Implacable Hostility.

Tracey Mason - Associate Solicitor
 |
Tracey qualified as a Solicitor in 2007. She handles an
extensive and diverse caseload of both private and legal aid
clients. This includes representing parents in care proceedings,
domestic abuse and injunction work, residence and contact
disputes, divorce and financial relief. Tracey also represents
parents and children in public law children cases.
Tracey is a member of Resolution (First for Family Law),
Devon and Somerset Law Society and the Law Society Children
Panel.

Emma Perkins - Associate Solicitor
 |
Emma qualified as a solicitor in 2005. Whilst she has experience
in dealing with all areas of family law i.e. care proceedings;
divorce & finance; cohabitation disputes etc, her particular
interest lies in helping victims (whether they be men or women)
of domestic abuse.
Emma is a member of Resolution. She is also a Resolution Accredited
Specialist in Domestic Abuse and Private Children cases.
Emma sits as the Vice Chair of the Taunton Deane Domestic
Abuse Forum which is a multi-agency forum which aims to raise
awareness of domestic abuse in the wider community and amongst
front line professionals.

Members include health care professionals and
representatives from Women’s Aid; ManKind; the police;
fire service; advice and support agencies and helplines.
Emma undertakes both private work and work under the legal
aid scheme, and is a member of the Devon and Somerset Law
Society.

Karen Elliott - Legal Executive
 |
Karen qualified as a Fellow of the institute of Legal Executives
in March 2004 after working many years as a Paralegal in the
legal profession.
Karen has experience in both civil and family matters but
now specialises in Children matters, including Residence and
Contact together with all other disputes involving children.
She also advises on divorce, civil partnerships and financial
relief matters related thereto.
Karen is also a Member of the Devon and Somerset Law Society.

Sarah Daw - Legal Executive

Sarah is a Graduate of the Institute of Legal Executives.
She has a particular interest in divorce and dissolution
of civil partnership as well as all aspects of financial resolution
and private children law cases.
Sarah is a member of the Junior Lawyers Division of the Devon
and Somerset Law Society.
